Tea Party of the Otherworldly

Goodnight dear one, sleep comfortably tonight,
Your room surveyed, no monsters in sight.
Under your bed, with a flashlight in hand,
All but a sock, a toy, and rubber band.

In your closet I see, just a pile of your clothes,
To make sure you clean up,
Tomorrow after school!
A basketball, a shoe, but were is the mate?
Be sure you find him, I don't want you late!

Your nightlight shines on, your door left ajar,
Off to bed now I go, so not even a sound!

Goodnight dear one, sleep comfortably tonight!
Your room I have surveyed, not one monster in sight!

My room grown dark, with my head tucked away,
Under my sheets, the sounds go away.
These shadows I see, out my window they dance,
Bold shall I be? Not a chance, not a glance!

My fireflies still glow, by bed light the scene,
For something putrid, to rip through my dreams.
But like daddy says, monsters don't really exist,
So there's nothing to fear, just thoughts to resist.

I'll peak out and see, see nothing is there,
Just me and my room, some things here and there.
This isn't so bad, what a wuss I must be!
To sleep now I'll go, without a fear it shall be!
But just in case…

My bat kept near me,
To slay any beast, that dare challenge me!

A few hours later, a creek I awoke,
and grabbed tight my bat, as my hands slightly shook.
I looked all around, not one spot to miss,
A strange glowing light, from my closet emits.

Shortly thereafter, laughter I hear,
but not normal laughter,
a cackle quite queer.

Bold shall I be? This time I must! With my bat in my hand,
I'll give quite a trust!
From my bed I did hop, and tiptoe ahead,
To my closet door, my heart full of dread.

When the door I approached, with my fingers I wrapped,
around the gold doorknob, with a really tight grasp.
I peeked through the opening, and guess what I saw!
A monster tea party, with table and all!

As long as a bus, it easily sat forty,
dressed in cookies and cakes, and fruits of all tastes.
Candles they'd lit, and plates they had set,
Of skulls, and bones, and guts, I detest!
"What is all this?" I pondered, and paced.
And here in my closet? A dream I partake?

The monsters what horror, like nothing I'd seen,
Sharp teeth, big eyes, claws and long feet!
Spots, and stripes, imagination at defeat!

All of a sudden, one spotted me,
"Do come in." It said with a streak!
I grabbed my bat, from my hands greased with sweat,
And slowly walked in, my pants nearly wet.

Welcomes were said, join they begged,
"This parties for all, there's no time for bed!"
Before I could think, with a shove I was in,
And there by my side, a pumpkin head grinned!
"Do take a seat, here please rest your feet, have one or two,
Gooey, yummy treats!"

I looked all around, on the table before me,
at the dishes piles high, with gobblers and eyes.
In the bowl where I was, strange things did move,
like worms and bugs,
In chunky gut stew.
I picked up a fork, and stabbed at the meal,
I closed my eyes, plugged my nose tight…

And in it went, a wiggle and a giggle,
But oh the taste, amazing it was!
I scarfed the rest in, they all seemed quite pleased!
With my plate nearly empty, and my tummy at ease.

"Do have a drink!" Five eyes did beckon.
So I grabbed the glass, "Sure thing, I reckon!"

I downed it with bustle, with all smiles on me,
"This calls for a dance! Lets all do the hustle!"

The band played their toon, on drums and violins,
The skeleton accordion, and bass bellowed in.

The checked dance floor, stretched on forever more,
The black, and the white, what a pain for my sight!
But to dance all I wanted, and dance oh I did!

All over the dance floor, with swirls and twirls,
Twists and turns, whirls and purls.
Tentacles, and wings, fliers, and fangs,
Everyone danced, as the music was sang.

Long into the night, as the sun did arise,
I knew time had come, for all my goodbyes.
A bit sad I was, with the blow of the horn,
From my fathers old car,
"Hey son, it's the morn!"

I dressed in a flash, with my shoes now a match!
And ran out my door, down the stairs with a crash.
I hopped in the car, took my lunch, and my bag…

"So how did you sleep son?"

"Quite well dad, not a monster in sight."
Ok, so... this isn't really much of a poem, just something I wrote for fun. :D

I saw something like this in a book I read, so it was kind of my inspiration.

I'm trying to overload the reader with visual imagery, so if you, or something gets lost, please tell me so I can fix it! I want this perfect!
